About Sally

I’m an accredited mindfulness and self-compassion teacher and I’m passionate about helping people to meet life's joys and challenges with greater presence, compassion and resilience.

Since 2017, I’ve been guiding people through mindfulness courses, walks and retreats, drawing on my background in mental health support work to create safe, nurturing spaces for personal growth.

My journey into mindfulness

I know firsthand what it feels like to be stretched too thin.

In my late twenties and early thirties a painful health condition, coupled with the pressures of managing a mental health project in the charity sector left me feeling anxious, burnt out, and searching for a way to cope. That’s when I re-discovered mindfulness, through an eight-week Mindfulness for Health course.

I’d tried meditation before but this course hit differently and as I committed to regular practice I slowly began to feel less frazzled and more like myself.

Mindfulness didn’t eliminate my challenges, but it transformed how I related to them. I was no longer fighting myself, and started treating myself with more compassion - the way I’d treat a good friend who was struggling.

This personal experience is what drives my passion to share mindfulness and self-compassion with others. I understand how it feels to be overwhelmed, and I know that it’s possible to find a healthier, happier way to live too.

My mindfulness training

I completed my accredited teacher training in 2017 with Breathworks, specialising in Mindfulness for Health and Mindfulness for Stress. Since then I’ve taught hundreds of people in Oxfordshire and online including in workplaces, colleges, mental health services and community groups.

I am listed with the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA), the only national register for UK mindfulness teachers who meet Good Practice Guidelines. This means that I’m fully insured and commit to regular personal practice, professional supervision, annual retreats and continued professional development.

In 2022, I trained to become a mindfulness supervisor, offering guidance to other mindfulness teachers, helping them reflect on their own teaching and personal practice.

Having worked in local mental health services for the last decade I’m experienced at supporting people through emotional distress. I’ve maintained my Mental Health First Aider certification since 2012, ensuring I remain current and well-equipped to support people experiencing mental health challenges.

But even as a teacher, I’m very much still learning. I see myself as a ‘guide on the side,’ not a ‘sage on the stage.’ Mindfulness is a lifelong journey, and I walk it alongside my students.
